Mykola Orlov delivered report "Trade with Ukraine: Dramatic Liberalization of Ukrainian Regulatory Environment" at Norwegian-Ukrainian Business Forum (NUBF), on November 18th 2014.

Norwegian-Ukrainian business forum, organized by Ukrainian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Ukraine) & Norwegian Chamber of Commerce

The event was attended by about 300 top managers and decision makers of major Ukrainian and Norwegian companies, as well as by representatives of government bodies.

Politicians, foremost businessmen, investors and prominent market players participated in the event to highlight cooperation between two countries in such crucial areas as ICT, Energy and Trade.

The five parallel sessions of the forum were dedicated to trade facilitation between two countries, energy as the common denominator for Ukraine and Norway, discussion of future cooperation, investments attracting and Trade facilities as a driving force for development of the cooperation between Ukraine and Norway.

During the Trade facilitation panel Mykola Orlov focused on the issues on the current status of Ukrainian regulation and great importance of its overhaul. He said  that the Association Agreement signed with the EU ushers in a new overhaul of the Ukrainian legal system:

  • higher corporate governance standards;
  • financial transparency and accountability;
  • introduction of a wide range of EU standards, inter alia, for food quality and safety; and
  • ultimate removal of tariff barriers to the trade with the EU member-states

The above changes should make Ukrainian regulation familiar to both foreign investors and foreign trade partners.
